S.C.E.N.E. fest... It was a little like an all inclusive resort!

SceneFest
by: Diana & Marlee

11:30/scratch that 12:00pm - Marlee and I pack up the car to head to St. Catherine's.

Google map directions - check
Scenefest itinerary and city map -check
buns and coldcuts - check
a breathing(suuure testa) cooler with water - check
us - who knows?

The drive up was interesting as always, we got lost which isn't out of the ordinary for us but once we got to St. Catherine's we parked the car and started the search for the Market Square to pick up our passes!

2:30pm - Passes in hand we start wondering the music filled city! We looked like tourists reading our map trying to make sure we got to every set we wanted to. The first band we saw on stage that day was The Johnstones, they had the crowd dancing and singing at the top of their lungs! They always put on a very...interesting show!

3:30-4:30 - We spent walking around the city meetings bands like Birds Of Whales, Final Thought, SteroKid, and The Black Rainbows! We also ran into our good friend Rob Dyer of Skate For Cancer, and it is always great running into him!
Big shout outs to the guys in The Black Rainbows for supplying us with a WICKED RV and a nice shelter from the rain! The day would not have been same with out you guys.

5:00-7:00pm - This is when things started to get crazy, we had about an hour of scheduled interviews with: The Junction, Lights, This Is An Empire, and The Balconies. This was our first time ever sitting down and doing legit interviews with bands... did I say EVER? We had such an amazing time with all of the bands, they made interviewing seem like we had been doing it for ever!(that's what I think anyways, the video speaks for itself). Marlee and I were literally running around the city trying to not to miss anything! We got to see the Birds of Whales perform a few songs, as well as The New Cities, Black Majic Movement, Lights and many others.

8:30pm- As we moved into the night, the rain moved in as well! Luckily enough we found ourselves with a wicked group of people having a good time with friends under a gorgeous shelter. We were all wondering what was going to happen because the rain was coming down hard and Down With Webster was getting ready to take a very wet stage.

9:30pm- We made our way, IN THE RAIN over to the main stage to find nothing but panic, the rain was coming down really hard at this point and their was talk of the show ending because all the equipment was getting so wet. The fans showed no signs of leaving so Down With Webster took the stage regardless of the weather!
The guys took the stage sans set list and let the crowd pick what they wanted to hear, they showed a great deal of appreciation and respect for their fans by sucking it up and playing in the rain. They got about 6 songs in when things started to pop and twitch when they had the call it a night, even though their set ended early I know not one fan left disappointed. The guys performed like I haven't seen in a while, it was amazing!

11:00pm We were starting to get tired at this point but we knew their was still so much to do, Rebel Emergency was about to take the stage in a pub on King Street. It was our second time seeing Rebel Emergency this week and we couldn't have asked for a better band to close of SceneFest for us! The club was packed, everyone and I mean everyone was dancing to the music. It was a great way to just relax and really have a good time and close out SceneFest with a bang!
